UAF COOPERATIVE EXTENSION SERVICE Alaska Home Grown

The University of Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service (CES) has a Small Business Development Program that connects Alaskans to the organizations, services, professionals, and information needed to produce value-added products and support an Alaskan lifestyle. Small Business Development Specialist Coral Howe is available to help you research information related to Alaska wild berry and other specialty food products, cottage-based industries, and the development of the specialty and gourmet food industry in Alaska. Consultation and services are free of charge.

One unique service of Alaska Home Grown is the production of professional nutrition labels for small food producers. With funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, CES has acquired the latest ESHA Genesis R&D Professional Nutrition Labeling Software. This program creates reproducible industry standard labels that provide essential nutritional information to consumer. Tyson Rinio, the Nutritional Label Technician, has been with CES for six years and is dedicated to providing a personal and professional service to clients. If you submit a recipe, exact measurement of all ingredients, and the number of servings/yield per recipe, Rinio is able to produce labels in several formats.
